First grader Varina Lawler received special recognition at the 2024-2025 Awards Night when she received a brand new award designed to acknowledge the student who not only excelled academically, but also the one who grew emotionally and spiritually.

Administrator and Principal Rina Burk said, “Varina’s love for the Word of God is contagious. When she is at a stopping point in her office, she chooses to read or write the Word of God, instead of wasting time day dreaming or scribbling on paper. Secondly, she absolutely loves everything about school – even Typemaster (well, most of the time). She shows up with a good and positive attitude each day. She is willing to learn and do hard things. She has gone above and beyond what is expected of her. When correction is needed, she listens well and takes the opportunity to become better without a bad attitude. She helps where she can to the best of her ability. Congratulations, Varina – we are so proud of you!”
